That's a tough question monkeyos, because my favourite tune usually lasts only a few weeks until a new infatuation takes over. At the moment it's The Graf Spee. I do also love the Tam Lyn!
And most of the good ones are jigs of one flavor or another, but a lot of hornpipes and few polkas slip in there as well, plus the odd waltz.
The ones I'm playing a lot for my own amusement right now are:
The Frost is All Over (wishful thinking I guess)
Jackie Tar
Drops of Brandy
Banish Misfortune (More wishful thinking I guess)
The Ballydesmond Polkas (Thanks Crysania)
The Queen of Oswego
And, yes, Harvest Home. At least until someone offers me money to stop.
Oh, and The Wounded Hussar. I like airs and laments.
My fav is always the one I'm currrently working on. The one I'm working on at the moment is Lafferty's -- will be The Bucks next, I think, as per this year's tune resolution.
Usually "Flowers of Edinburra " like a lowland Reel. It's one of the first tunes I really learned and still a favo(u)rite. But I'm currently partial to "Crabs in the Skillet" and "La Paloma"
My current favourite is a g major jig called 'the mouse in the mud' - a knacky auld tune, i'm told - i think its dead sexy though! dont know where it comes fro i'm afraid!
"the frost is all over (wishful thinking I Guess)"
Glad to see someone else interpreted this tunes title in the same was as I did i.e. = the frost is at an end. (Assuming of course that is how you interpret it, KFG?).
A conversation in the pub a while back revealed that everyone else interpreted the title as = the frost is everywhere. I hadn't considered this possibility before, and concede it may be the more likely meaning due to the aue of the word "all".
However, it is interesting (though perhaps only to myself) that this tune title can be read as having two opposed meanings.
Any other examples of titles with multiple interpretations?
Oh, and getting back OT:
reels:
Maids of Mount S.
Sligo Maid
Paddy Fahey's (the one I know, not the others)
Farewell to connaught
reels: college groves, mason's apron, humours of carrigaholt, mouseskin shoes, the rocky road./
jigs:kid on mountains, andy de jarlis /ingonish/mr mc gee set. .
/ hornpipes: boy of the blue hill.
slow air: autumn child (lunasa)
"Glad to see someone else interpreted this tunes title in the same was as I did i.e. = the frost is at an end. (Assuming of course that is how you interpret it, KFG?)."
For the purposes of that post, because the frost is all over.
"The frost is all over. I dig praties. They're cool."
Ain't the amibiguity of English as she is spoke grand?
It wouldn't have worked with the full titile of the tune though, "The praties are dug and the frost is all over." It's post harvest season.
Reels: Farewell to Erin, Flowers of red hill, Dinkie's, Cooley's, Longford tinker, Maid of Mount Cisco, Drowsy Maggie, Bucks of Oranmore, Little Molly, Fred Finn's oh I can't stop there are so many great reels!!!!
At the moment, my favorite is a Bulgarian tune I was just listening to in the car. I don’t know the name, but it’s in 11/8 time. Or maybe 11/16. I’d like to learn it, but I can’t count that high without taking off my shoes.

Mayor Harrison's Fedora(these days). Doesn't get mentioned much as a session staple, though. Too bad.

Miss Patterson's Slipper. There's so much you can do with that tune. Also re-discovering The Maid of Mount Kisco and The Silver Spear.

Re: What is your favorite tune
Tam Lin, definitely. It's a great tune. Also Julia Delaney, Over the Moor to Maggie, Fermoy Lasses, and Dunmore Lasses.
Favourite jigs of the moment would be Donnybrook Fair, Cliifs of Moher, Gallagher's Frolics, and a rather nontraditional one called Jump at the Sun.
Kitty's Wedding is a great hornpipe. And I love the Ballydesmond Polkas.

HD crash ate a batch of ABCs I hadn't backed up yet. That's one of 'em.
I'll retranscribe it and post it to the tunes section, but give me a day or two . . .
I'm recovering from a HD crash.

Somebody asked for music to the Zipper. It's in the 2005 Carp Camp homework site http://www.carpazon.com/PPCC_HW05_Index_fr.htm
Lots of really cool stuff there! My new favorite is Icobod's Last Ride and Accordian Crimes also found on that site (2006 homework)
