Happy Nu Yr and your resolutions ?

Happy Nu Yr and your resolutions ?

Happy New Year to all , especially to Ptarmigan for entertaining me ( and all of us I'm sure ) greatly in 2005 . I resolve to learn five new difficult reels in minor keys and be able to play them at speed without errors ! by Dec. 2006;

We live in hope !!!

Re: Happy Nu Yr and your resolutions ?

Happy New Year to all. My resolution is the same as last years (and I did achieve some of it!) - to be myself- not always as easy as it seems. (I get philosophical at this time of year.)

Any sessions or parties I can get to tonight from West Manchester within the next hour?

Find the magic potion that will enable me to instantly know 500 new tunes perfectly -- I think it's the one that gets poured into your ear....

Re: Happy Nu Yr and your resolutions ?

To learn and master the shaky eggs, easy enough for jigs and reels, but slip jigs now..............

Re: Happy Nu Yr and your resolutions ?

Happy New Year! Resolution, resolution...I haven't thought about it yet. Perhaps I should resolve to have resolve.

Be yourself as hard as you can be. It IS harder than it sounds, I think, because we all want to be someone better and somehow more worthy of love and acceptance than we tend to think we are.

When I was young (oh so long ago now), I could never quite figure out that old saw about getting to know yourself. Closer to the other end of the age spectrum now, I believe that the real struggle isn't knowing yourself, it's accepting and loving the bad bits as well as the good.

But thank goodness for cycles and periods of reflection. Without them, the human race would probably have run itself out long ago. :) Best to each of you!

Re: Happy Nu Yr and your resolutions ?

-To resist the temptation to buy new instruments (after the next two. I swear!)
- To get the courage up to "gig." I love performing, I just need the b@lls to do it.
- To learn those session tunes that everybody knows that are kinda boring.

Re: Happy Nu Yr and your resolutions ?

- Buying my B/C box by April! Yeah!
- Sell one guitar, buy another. (Taylor 310, with hardshell case, needs fret work, asking $500 USD -or make an offer and I might pay shipping.. anyone interested please email me --- Agamemnon3@aol.com.)
- Part ways with King Nicotine.
- Catch up with Twilight Zone episodes.
- Commit some music to tape, record with the girlfriend.
- Read as many books next year as I did this year.
- Remind myself that despite hurricanes, rising rent, long lines, dead batteries, the Bush doctrine, sporting defeats and the traffic lights I never seem to catch when I need to, I am very fortunate to have what I want while countless others need. Remind myself each morning to be grateful. "Don't sweat the small stuff!" It's just a box of rain. . . ; )

Happy New Year! Remember to open your windows and doors at midnight! Get OUTTA here!

Re: Happy Nu Yr and your resolutions ?

* Play at the Blythe.
* Hear as much storming music and singing as possible.
* Never believe Aidan Crossey when he proposes an "afternoon" session.

So I've made a good start :)

Re: Happy Nu Yr and your resolutions ?

I resolve to complete last year's resolution, to learn to become transparent. I feel I'm making good progress.

I resolve to learn to teleport (with my instruments) to anywhere I want on the planet.

Re: Happy Nu Yr and your resolutions ?

My new year's resolution is to spend more money on seeing live music shows and less money on silly, trivial things like junk food or celebrity magazines or heat or rent.

I also resolve to see a professional rodeo this year.

"I resolve to complete last year's resolution, to learn to become transparent."

It's working, Steve! I can't see you at all!

Some of my resolutions:

Play more fiddle, without playing less guitar or seriously violating any laws of physics.

Sing more songs.

Write more tunes.

Sell the instruments I don't actually play. (Hidden agenda: Buy more instruments.)

Take more oppotunities to be kind, rather than right.
