Hi, just wondering where i can get a decent pipers case that i don't have to spend a leg and an arm to get, and don't have to go to another country to find! i have a practise set and i'm finding it pretty impossible to find a case that small, everyone seems to do full set cases. A bit of help is much needed as i don't want to be carrying my pipes around in a cardboard box for the rest of my life.
Thanks
You could use a soft bag/rucksack if you slip the chanter into a strong tube, e.g. a length of plastic drain piping. I use an adapted electric guitar case, cost 50 UKP for my half set, a bit big but it also carries a flute case. Then again, I don't take them out and about very often...
I had this problem and so, until I get my drones, my practice set juswt fits nicely into an aluminium tool case, purchased from B&Q for just £10, without having to dismantle anything. Looks OK too!
Practice sets are suprisingly compact instruments to keep away. If you dismantle the parts you would be able to fit it in a small haversack. I wouldn't bother look for a case until I get a halfset or something more permanent.

Re: Uilleann pipe cases
My practice set fits in a briefcase when it's dismantled.
The free space around the bits is stuffed with bar towels to prevent movement.

Fiddle or Viola case with the guts removed. Or an antique sax case.

Re: Uilleann pipe cases
I've had the same problem and been told that a tenor sax case is just what you need. Good luck!
