Well it's almost Christmas and this will probably be the last time I'll be near a computer for a while, thank God. Work has been frying my brain a bit recently.
This afternoon we've got our department Christmas lunch (booze-up) and I still have some presents to buy! As our local garage might be a last resort I wonder how many people will be getting antifreeze or a copy of the Highway code in their stocking?
I'd just like to wish everyone who visits this site a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and, in the words of Dave Allen, May your God go with you.
Hear hear. Some good advice, tips, knowledge and a whole lot of b@llsh*t was had and spread by all.... and what good fun i had reading it.
To all, a merry christmas and happy new year.
Thanks Conán, someone had to start this thread sooner or later.
Now seems as good a time as any - just finished work with the next 4 days off. Only downside is that there is not much music happening right now.
I will just add my greetings to all who frequent this place and especially to Jeremy for providing it - this is starting to sound like an Academy award speech~~~~~ Merry Christmas everyone and best wishes for the New Year.
Well, we are holding our usual last Thursday of the month session, seems to me some people will be glad of a change from Christmas fare by then, but before that we go to the obligatory panto - "Snow White goes to Kitschville" - oh, those whacky North London artsy-crafty liberal-schmiveral trendy-lefty theatre folk !
I also refer my colleagues to the previously quoted words of the late great Dave Allen. Indeed, exactly so.
To the above, this newcomer would like to add a big thank you for all the knowledge I've gained from the wonderful and interesting session.orgers and this most interesting site.
As we all celebrate the bounties of the season my wish is for each of us to be blessed with the compassion and peace of which our contemplations dream.
May the New Year bring peace and good fortune to us all.
With great compassion in my heart I say thank you to all that have shared their knowledge and guidance with me this year.
We finished Wednesday's session with Christmas Eve reel so now I've heard it twice there's no excuse for not knowing it the third time round next Christmas.
Happy Christmas to All, Good Luck for the New Year and Blessings to St Jeremy
As I yesterday bought the last of the presents at that great giftshop "Vinmonopolet" ("The Wine Monopoly"), I am finally ready for to let the peace and quiet of the holliday seep in. A few quiet tunes in the Dubliner, downtown Oslo, tonight at 1900, for anyone interested, and then family, quiet and calm.
Hope everybody will have the Christmas they wish for.
Whether you celebrate the birth of your Savior, the turn of the winter solstice, the start of the new Year, Hannukah, Kwannzaa, St. Stephen's Day, Boxing Day, the secular joy of being with loved ones and exchanging presents, the joy of a new life in your family (congrats fidkid), or some combination of the above options, I wish each and all of you a happy holiday season, and a new year filled with joy, music, peace and happiness!
I was really in the spirit of Christmas until last night when a group of carol singers turned up outside my house complete with instruments of all sorts - they started out great but then a huge argument started about the backing rhythm on Silent Night, got really aggressive when someone started playing harmony on Jingle Bells and eventually came to blows when I made a donation, thus changing the whole ambience from 'pure playing' to 'a performance for an audience' - thank God Jeremy turned up then and made everyone go home....
Happy Christmas to one and all and thanks for all the tunes, insight and laughs you provide.
I have to work today/tonite then am off work for a week...looking forward to some quiet time with the family (although it is never quiet around here), going to a movie or so, and learning some new tunes...
A very Happy Christmas to all here on the "Yellow Board". It looks like a period of semi-retirement for me until the New Year unless some of the lads here in Ennis decide to "Bury a Wran" on St Stephen's Day, which is not unheard of around these parts!
Well, I've had 'flu all week. Yep. Real Flu. From a semi functional human being on Monday I rapidly descended to bone-aching, feeling cold but sweating fevered permanently fatigued mass of delirium, during which not a drop touched my lips (honest!) and from the pit of which (I sincerely hope) I have started to climb out. Especially as we've got some folks round tomorrow. So Christmas is as yet tentatively Merry. hope yours is going to be better than the mine that I fear yet half expect.
Never mind - I'll get over it. Great things human bodies, even quite worn down ones.
I would have been on the road right now, but we opted out on account of all the fog in the Central Valley of California. We're going to try it tomorrow instead. I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday.
Well, I might as well weigh in, as well, by wishing well to all who visit/contribute to this site, now and through the next years!
special merry Christmas to yia yia Estelle in Denver; May the grace of peace be with you. from our high desert mini-metro home, happy Holiday to all. -yonder
A merry Christmas to all from my side of the pond and wishes for a wonderful new year. Just remember this year those who are less fortunate than we and reach out with heart and spirit to spread Christmas cheer.
Happy Christmas to you all! Today we are celebrating the return of the Chinook Salmon to the stream that runs near our home. This is where they spawn. We have not had enough rain for the past couple of years to make the stream deep enough for the salmon to make the long journey from the Pacific Ocean (about 80 miles). It has been raining hard for the past three days, though, and today, three of the beautiful big red fish appeared. Not so many, but hopefully, it means that some new salmon will hatch in a few months and continue the cycle in the coming years. Hooray.
Many thanks to you all for the tunes, humor, information, and news over the past year. I'm looking forward to much more of the same in 2006. Special thanks to Jeremy. I appreciate the time you spend to make this site work for us all.
Thank you very much Brian. Your immediate felicitations to us may be better received through this site than through the ultimate all-knowing one.

What about some of the guys who were spreading the *word* to the people in Australia, the oldest established human communities.
What ye have to remember is that when *we* ie the whites, invaded Australia, a process was thus interrupted, irreversibly, that had been going on for at least 140,000 years. Oh dear God, I know the the tides and times of fortune know no rules and ask no favours ..and the dice may have been thrown wildly in another direction....imagine had good weather prevailed in the Vienna Region when the Turks wished to invade. And so on.
Anyway, that's a load of European sh!te. You must surely consider yourself priveleged in residing in a location where Native Australians live, or do they? Nahh they all got et out of Tassers, by us the clever white guys.
