Friday Harbor, 2006

Friday Harbor, 2006

I got this email from my dear friend and set dance teacher here in Windsor yesterday. Anne McCallum is a great teacher and dancer of set dancing and has been teaching for over ten years, well she has been invited at Friday Harbor in 2006. Here's her email and info for Friday Harbor.

Hello Folks:

I'm thrilled to tell you that I've been asked to teach Set Dancing at the
FRIDAY HARBOR IRISH MUSIC CAMP, March 7-12, 2006. This is a wonderful week in a beautiful location owned by the University of Washington, just outside the town of Friday Harbor on San Juan Island, Washington, about a 45 minute ferry ride from Anacortes on the mainland.

I'll be joining some brilliant musicians who will be teaching classes this
year including:

Catherine McEvoy - Flute & whistle
Tommy Peoples - Fiddle
Randal Bays - Fiddle
Daithi Sproule - Guitar and song arranging
James Keane - Button Accordion
Gearóid Ó hAllmhuráin - Concertina
Susan Waters - Introduction to Irish Fiddle
Andrea Cooper - Introduction to the Pennywhistle

Tuition is $585 US which includes all tuition for three classes a day, 5
nights lodging, 3 meals a day, admission to daily lectures/discussions,
evening sessions, ceilis and the staff concert on Saturday night.
(Tuition without room and board is $300. There are several B&B's and
hotels in nearby Friday Harbor, as well as a campsite that is about 5
miles from the camp. Individual class tickets will be available.)

A 10% discount is available to Canadians ($527 US) and a 10% discount is available to those who register and pay before December 31, 2005.

To ensure small class sizes, registration is limited. So, if you're
thinking about going, don't wait too long or you'll be disappointed.

Check out Southwest Airlines. They always have great seat sales. In a
few weeks again, from Detroit to and from Seattle, it'll probably be
approx $96 plus taxes each way.

Please pass on this information and/or forward this email and please do
check out the website:

Re: Friday Harbor, 2006

This is a screaming deal! Also, a very beautiful place (albeit a tad rainy in March....) My husband and I looked longingly at it, but it is at an awkward time of year for us. Oh, to be retired.....sigh...
