OK........ It's most likely that you aren't going to get it, but if Santa was going to bring you the musical instrument of your wishes what would it be???
Oh.....and if you're reading this Santa..........a Salterelle Clifden for me this year please
A nice short scale tenor banjo which would suit me. I've long been considering what I should do about this(see mandolin V banjo thread) i.e whether to get a good but relatively inexpensive model such as a Gold Tone for about £600 or order a really expensive one from David Boyle or Tom Cussen etc. I'm sure the cheaper option would do but the more expensive one would be nice.
The trouble is that you never see really good tenor banjos in the shops to try them them out. Maybe, Santa would make my mind up for me.
I want what John J wants. Wondering whether to risk getting a vintage one from eBay - been looking at a Gibson on there just the other day, but probably will go for a Gold Tone (with resonator) in January if not too many bills come in - they look very enticing. I've already bought my fiddle its prezzie - a pusch tailpiece and it likes it very much!
A D/G/A three row accordion. I like to accompany singers in single row style, as it offers more opportunities for double stops and such. But not all of them sing in C (or B).
"Everybaddy knows there ain'ta no Sanity Clause" - Chico Marx.
Santa ain't gonna bring my daughter back from uni, we have to go and fetch her.
Talent and a new 'zouk would be my wish, and an acoustic fretless bass, oh, and a few more gigs....I know my SO's getting a new Susato whistle, 'cause that was easy to do.
Doh!
Ask for more talent!
What a great idea, G. P.!
Why didn't I think of that?
Come to think of it, maybe I should ask for more brainpower, so I will be able to think of good ideas like asking for more talent!
I'd love to say that in the spirit of the season Taylor is refretting my four-year-old 310 for *free* as per terms of the warranty, although I suppose that somewhere, a perfect world exists for that sort of thing... and to think that a buddy of mine has gigged with his Epiphone for 25 years and it hasn't required a fret job yet... hmm...
(Definitely off-topic, I apologize, but I've had nothing but problems with the thing, and now they've gone and undersold me with newer, cheaper solid top models so the resale value is a third of what I paid for it! The rats!)
Ahem... apologies... Christmas, was it? Of course.. I'm wishing for a few good records, and a quiet hurricane season... anyone else down here in the Southeast?
Hi, John J, I asked for a tenor banjo, too! My parents think I'm mad, so I probably won't get one, but it was fun seeing their faces And it'll be cool if by some miracle I really get one!
All i want for Christmas is....
1) A Larry Egar Harp
2) A stage piano
3) A grand piano
and thats all because I got a new piano accordion a couple of months ago! Well I supposes also maybe a bigger house to hold them all but I think I'm too young to move out yet!
What Santa going to bring you???

Re: What Santa going to bring you???
A cello, and space to keep it. Fed up with playing cello effect voice on keyboard. An old dog can be taught new tricks, so there.
And a house big enough to accommodate the grand piano i just inherited. It'll have to live with a friend for now.
