Moynihan on radio...........need more

Moynihan on radio...........need more

I heard Johnny Moynihan on the RTE 1 at the weekend, talking about his bouzouki and played a few clips of him live playing it. The clips were only about 10 seconds each but he was AMAZING ! Wonderful voice and wonderful mellow zouk sound.

Is the anyone out there that has recording him at a session, live gig, radio etc I would love to hear from you off list !

The instrument I have most often seen him with is a very oddly shaped mandola, with octave mandolin scale length, but tuned CGDA.

Are you sure CGDA ?? wasn't he the inventor of GDAd tuning??

Re: Moynihan on radio...........need more

He was the one that introduced Andy Irvine to GDAD, I think that's the tuning he'd be using.

Maybe - but he's a man of many parts. Perhaps it was CGDG, but I'm sure it wasn't in the octave mandolin register.
