Atlanta Competition registration now open

Hey guys,

If anyone is living near or planning to visit Atlanta, Georgia you might be interested in signing up for the feile cheoil on Saturday Feb. 4th. It's a first time event for us and we're hoping for lots of participants and music.

Online registration opened yesterday. Feel free to post any questions to me.

Registration is now open for the Atlanta Irish Music Competition!

All ages can compete in any two of the following instrument categories:

Fiddle

Flute

Whistle

Uilleann Pipes

Concertina

Bodhrán

Plucked Strings: banjo, mandolin, guitar, bouzouki, harp

Miscellaneous instruments: button accordion, piano accordion, piano, melodeon, cello, viola

Song: Irish or English


Age Categories: Child (7-11yrs), Junior (12-15), Novice (16-18), Adult (19+)

Competition adjudicators include: Marie Reilly of New York City, former fiddler for the world renowned band Cherish the Ladies and Riverdance; Seamus MacConaonaigh of County Galway, Ireland, a highly acclaimed flute and whistle player; and Albert Alfonso, the irrepressible Celtic-Cuban bodhrán maker and expert of Augusta Heritage Week.

Following the competition on Saturday, the judges will perform an evening concert at the Red Light Café in Midtown Atlanta opening with fabulous young Irish band Oisre and headlining Marie Reilly and Friends.
