Hey, that lassie sounds awfy gid slainte. That Miller of Drone track especially.
So nice to hear a banjo played without all that pyrotechnic sh*t that so many modern players feck up the tunes with.
Comhaltas has a lot to answer for!
I never yet saw a real tasty Banjo player at a fleadh competition get real appreciation. It's always the 'Flash Gordons' who get the glory. When will Comhaltas learn that there's more to music than exhibitionism & ornamentation?
Ya i agree
if you don't play like a Gerry O Connor wannabee then it seems you have no chance of being considered as "the best". Who cares about these titles anyway...
Listen to her solo brace of reels " Col. McBain and Roll out the Barrell " on her second CD or her solo "Green Groves of Erin " on the same CD , you will never hear finer banjo playing. I think she plays a Wildwood banjo ?
It's funny that people sometimes suggest she has a very "simple" style of playing. I think it's actually very subtle with exquisite ornamentation (as opposed to none.)
New Album of Angelina Carberry!!!

Re: New Album of Angelina Carberry!!!
I'm told the banjo is an Oakwood, made in Leeds, England.
