I don't mind 'em. They're never going to rattle any cages, musically speaking, but that's fine. It's not as if many of us are pushing the boundaries in that sense, anyway. I've no idea if they deserve an MBE or not. Will it help them sell any more albums? Doubt it. Tell you what though...they must be the only MBEs in Dundalk, or the only ones admitting to it, at any rate.
I'm sure what the point is in starting another thread to follow on from yesterday's(also started by you), Tom.
Unless, you're hoping for some kind of political debate here. In which case, the thread won't last very long.
i visited their website and sampled through a couple of their soundbites. Interesting to see that Andrea, the violinist, said she was not too much into traditional irish music. interesting, seeing that they were kind of marketed as an ITM/pop blend. I have noticed that with every album, there is less ITM moments included. Nevertheless, they are attractive to look at
The Corrs used to play in Dundalk before they were big...Now they turned their backs on ITM...The info about their charity work still doesn't make me like their FM music anymore. Did anyone hear gossip on Andrea and Bono?
When you run out of explanations about what a bodhan is try "that little drum the girl in the Corrs plays" , all the mugs are immediately know wot you are talking about.
Ptarmigan--I'd just love a noisy gathering with those girls, my place or theirs.
Hey McKnowall, might I suggest that you change your bio's website entry to include the [ http:// ] so that folk can click on it & go straight to your website.
You just might get more visitors that way! Just a thought.

Re: The Corrs
mcknowall - Now I know what Corr is short for:
corroboree - an Australian word:
1 - a native gathering or dance of festive or warlike character
2 - any noisy gathering [aboriginal]

Re: The Corrs
I've heard no gossip but, apparently, the girls are really energetic at it and that's what keeps them looking so young.

Re: The Corrs
Incidentally, how do folks find your Roo skinned Bodhrans?

I have a Red Deer skin Bodhran, but the skin is a bit too thick to be useful.
Our local Bodhran maker brought a Roo skin back from Oz this year & produced a couple from it, & found the neck skin was ideal.

Notice how I skilfully steered this discussion away from the Corrs there! Clever eh?

The Corrs are like the best band on the planet! They are so musically inclined and incredibly talented!

Re: The Corrs
Isn't John Joe Kelly playing a skippy-skinned drum? Sounded alright to me on Monday night.
