Re: Franke Kennedy Winter School in Donegal

This year’s Frankie Kennedy Winter School will take place from Tuesday, 27th December 2005 until Monday 2nd January 2006. All the events will take place in Gaoth Dobhair, Co Donegal. There will be 2 principal venues during the school, the Dunlewey Lakeside Centre in Dunlewey and Ostan Ghaoth Dobhair in Magheraclogher.

Classes will be provided in the following:- flute, fiddle, uilleann pipes, tin whistle, bodhran, button accordion, sean nos singing, house dancing and accompaniment (guitar/bouzouki). Classes are not suitable for beginners. Students are encouraged to bring recording devices to the class.

The fee for classes is euro 75. You can book for the classes or book tickets for any of the concerts by contacting the Frankie Kennedy Winter School at: Phone: +353 87 930 9656 or email: beanana@eircom.net or by post to: The Frankie Kennedy Winter School, Cois Cladaigh, Bunbeg, Letterkenny, Co Donegal enclosing payment in full by draft, cheque, postal order or credit card.
Early booking is advisable as class sizes will be restricted and all bookings will be on a first come first served basis.

Weather: please remember that this is a Winter school so be prepared for the weather, good or bad.

Bíonn an-tóir ar fad ar thicéidi i gcónaí – dá bhrí sin is fiú duit áirithint a dhéanamh a luaithe agus thig leat. Tá cosc iomlán ar thaifead nó craolachán a dhéanamh ar na himeachtaí seo gan cead a fháil roimhré.

The Dunlewey concert programme has a world class line up including the virtuoso duet of Seán Keane (Chieftains) and Liam O’Flynn; master guitarist Arty McGlynn joins fiddle and banjo player John Carty; Altan’s Ciarán Tourish fronts a hot line up including Sean Óg Potts, Jimmy Higgins and Arty McGlynn; and Beoga will share the New Year’s Eve stage in the Ostan with the electrifying Seamus Begley and Jim Murray. Of course there’s no Frankie Kennedy Winter School without Altan who will be joined by special guests for the final 2 concerts at Dunlewey. The popular afternoon recitals in the spectacular setting of Ostán Ghaoth Dobhair include pipers Gay, Conor & Sean McKeon with Arty McGlynn; Martin McGinley presents the fiddle concert; a special singing event celebrates the close links between Ireland and Gaelic Scotland and to top it off Harry Bradley presents the flute ‘blowout’ which puts the flute centre stage to celebrate and honour Frankie Kennedy – always a session to remember!

Early booking is strongly recommended as all events sell out quickly. Unauthorised audio and/or visual recording or broadcast or transmission of any of these events is strictly prohibited.

Re: Franke Kennedy Winter School in Donegal

is there some sort of accomodation included or do you have to find it yourself?

# Posted on November 8th 2005 by ecidralla

Re: Franke Kennedy Winter School in Donegal

Zookman,
An email to beanana@eircom.net requesting accomodation list will secure you a complete listing that includes names, addresses and contacts for 6 hotels, 3 hostels and 26 B&B's in the general Gaoth Dobhair area.
I understand that a website www.frankiekennedy.com will shortly be operational and that it is hoped to have this and lots more info displayed there.
