I'm a new member, and just wanted to say Hi. I've been following various discussions for several weeks and I love the fact that there is such a diverse range of oppinions on just about everything to do with ITM. What a fabulous resourse. Everyone welcome, from novice to expert, which is just one of the great things about about traditional music, and in my experience, ITM in particular. It's also a great place to visit for a break when my dog can't stand any more of my fiddle playing. Cheers.
Cead mile failte! (Irish for You're very welcome! Literal translation 100,00welcomes!)
Hope you have a great time being part of this site. I myself marvel at the incredible thought processes which result in so many diverse and wonderful threads.
Are you a don by profession, geography (Aberdeen, Sheffield) maybe, or a great batsman reincarnated?
Close, but no cigar! Could be short for Donkey, I as sometimes make an ass of myself. But no. Old nickname (given to me by a drummer, of all people) that stuck.
Hello thedon, have you noticed that sooner or later, these threads always seem to end up talking about Bodhrans, & already we are only 'one step' away from that - once more!
By the way, our dogs don't mind my Fiddle playing, but our old Scottie used to howl like a Wolf, every time I played certain high notes on my Concertina.
Because of this, Mrs Ptarmigan tended to call it my 'Constant Screamer'!
I was recently given an accordian and when I tried ro play it, my old deaf kelpie (Australan sheepdog), gave me a long suffering look, broke wind, and left the room in discust. Not sure wether it was a comment on wind insruments in general, or my musical taste and ability.
All dogs do that. Have you noticed that just when the smell becomes too much to bear the dog looks accusingly straight at you for several seconds before going out of the room.
A quick hello.
A quick hello.
