looking for a new bow

looking for a new bow

I'm looking to get a new fiddle bow. Does anybody know any bowmakers that aren't overly expensive, say, less than 1200 dollars for a good bow? I live in Minnesota. Any suggestions would be appreciated. A good used bow would be fine too.

Re: looking for a new bow

Try out a Classic Coda Bow now in upper $700s.

I like mine so much that I hate to send it for rehairing. It also comes with a lifetime guarantee. The other categories of Coda bows did not have the same control. The conservatory wasn't bad but the colours and aspire were much too light and bouncy for my taste.

Re: looking for a new bow

Hi Pat - If you contact The Sound Post (thesoundpost.com) they have a range of good bows from $200 up to 'the sky's the limit'! You can order over the phone and after a few questions about your musical tastes and ability they'll select the best bow for what you're willing to spend. Mine arrived by post within a week and came with a no haggle exchange policy. Nice people, great bows!
