Greetings sessioneers! It's Gerry here from East Gippsland Victoria. Some of you may remember me from a couple of recordings with a mate on Jim Doran's wonderful "Mighty Craic On-line" (Two Clever by Half - although nowadays I guess it's more like One Half Clever!!!)
It's been a while since I've posted to 'The Sesh', mainly because it's been a long time since I've found any ITMers to play with out here. (I did have a great time playing at a friend's party at W Tree recently - one of the guests turned out to be a brilliant fiddler and we played tunes for a couple of hours).
I am heading to Maldon (near Castlemaine) for the annual Folk Festival and am really hanging out to get some playing in. There is a terrific line up this year, including some great regulars like Billy & Eileen Moran from 'The Quiet Man' session. Is anybody else out there planning to go? It'd be great to meet up with some other 'Sessioneers'. The festival starts Friday 28 Oct and ends Monday 31 Oct. Hope to meet some of you there.
You'll find Katiebee but no doubt she will speak for herself.
Look out for Dougal Adams and Ormond Waters who are from my neck of the woods - Perth. They do not partake of Session.Org but are worth hearing.
Enjoy yourself there.
Hi Gerry. I'm heading down that way this weekend with my button box looking for a few tunes. I was last there 2 years ago and the sessions (ITM and others) were great. As I remember quite a choice aound the town in the pubs and out on the street. See you there.
I'm a-definitely going! There will be some kind of tune crew up from Melbourne - they're always mad for it. And I know of some alpine types coming as well. Should be a big one! See ya there.
Will definitely catch up with some of you mainland players soon. Am teaching at Summer School Under The Mountains, so might meet with a few; did catch up with Ken Maher last year, but the one I loved, was playing with so many, in between gigs, at the National Celtic Festival at Portarlington.
Me and my Brisso mates are looking forward to a few chewans with the mexicans in Maldon. Sounds like there might be a few troublesome kitchen hands there too.
Any Ozzie's going to Maldon Folk Fest?

Katiebee, what on earth is an 'Alpine type'?
Do they play on skis and have piste-sessions?
