Looking for people 22-30 (give'r take) interested in joining/ putting together an acid croft band (think Shooglenifty, Croft No.5, Martyn Bennett) to go tour and play pubs and festivals. Must have stage experience, professional attitude (!!!), be easy-going, and a decent player. Tea totallers, non-smokers, early risers, and vegetarians accepted as long as they're not preachy. lol
If this interests you, reply and we'll see what fun we can have!
Um, Canada is kind of big as you know. It might be helpful if you stated what area you'd like to have this group be based in, though I see you are in the Peg.
Anyway I am in BC so can't help you. I too am curious about the age limit.
I assume he/she wants to play with people closer to his/her age. I love the Shoogles myself but am 16 and live in the states. I have no idea why I read this.
Right, the age limit thing. Firstly, I'll say this was never meant to p*ss people off. Secondly, I'll just point out that I did add "give or take" after the age suggestion.
The reason for this age in my mind is not that I actually care about how old the band members are to be, but more that one can usually generalize a bit regarding where in life people in the same age bracket are. What I am NOT looking for is people who can't tour due to marital/ family commitments, or even school or a career for that reason.
I'm hoping to find people who enjoy late nights, smokey pubs, full dance floors and a nice pint. Also, ideally, I'd like to have this thing going for a while, and don't want to have to be doing a whole bunch of member swapping when commitments change . I know a band can survive this, but it's just a pain in the ass.
Yes, I am based in the 'Peg, and the reason I said "Canadians" instead of just Manitobans is that, as I said, I'd like to do a lot of touring with this, and thus where any individual calls home isn't as important as it could be if it was just hometown stuff in mind. I'd rather work with a player because they're good than because they're convenient. Also, Winnipeg (aside from the yearly folk festival) has a pretty limited market for celtic dance music, and I've already played 5 years in the biggest Manitoban celtic band. I have my eye on big clubs/ pubs, fairs and festivals. I don't want to nickel and dime people; I want this to be fun, and very worth everyone's time. I'm in the middle of a revenue-less tour, and i'd never want to put anyone through this.
Thanks for your clarification. Sounds like you have well-thought-out reasons for stating things as you did. I wasn't upset... just surprised at the original post. I wish you good luck.

Re: Calling all Canadians...
Hey, these pioneers of Acid Croft are not exactly in your 22-30 age bracket, so what's the game?

Re: Calling all Canadians...
Can I add 22 to 30 and take away some and still be eligible?
