Just back from a fantastic concert of Téada. They are touring Nova Scotia right now. They were great. The music was incredible. I feel extremely lucky to have seen them as we are not on what most bands consider the main road. Téada played in Petit-Ruisseau which is a very small town in the district of Clare (a name which elicited a few comments, you can be sure), to a sold out hall of 150. It was a very intimate setting. Be on the lookout, I think they are on their way to Antigonish.
Yeah, Damien isn't on Give Us a Penny. They were working on some stuff during their break earlier this summer, but I'm not sure when their next cd will actually be ready. Hopefully soon. They don't come back to Tx until December, so maybe they'll have one ready by then. . .
Hello all,
Having seen Teada a few times in the last couple of years, it seems that Oisin has decided to knock the songs on the head when performing; which is a pity cos they are good songs, and in Irish too - a rare and welcome thing on this side of the ocean. Miss Sean's banjo playing too. Still a superb band though.
Off subject this is my first posting but I've been enjoying and learning a lot here for some time, so much appreciated all - especially Kerri's bio advice for sessions has been invaluable and very liberating.
(Only joking..)
They appeared with Danu at the Strand Theatre in Lakewood New jersey early this year, and it was my first hearing of live trad music after many years, and got me playing again - thought they were great and also picked up Give Us a Penny. They're doing an Irish Christmas in America tour this December along with harper Grainne Hambly other performers. Sorry to hear about the singing since I really enjoyed it.
Yeah, I enjoyed the singing from their last performance here too. They're coming back here for the Irish Christmas tour and I cannot wait. They're also releasing a new cd in February of 2006.

Re: Téada in Nova Scotia
Sean something or other. Plays scary guitar and bouzouki.
By the way, they have an album out with this lineup-called Give Us A Penny and Let Us Be Gone-and it's very good.
They're great musicians, and very nice people. My friend and I got lessons from members.

Re: Téada in Nova Scotia
er. . . I was under the impression the flute player (Damien Stenson, lefty) was NOT on that album.

Re: Téada in Nova Scotia
The line-up, as reported in a local paper, was Seán McElwain, Paul Finn, Tristan Rosenstock and Damien Stenson plus Oisín of course.
I too was disappointed that there was no singing as I love hearing Irish.
I did buy Give Us a Penny and Oisín's solo album which is one of the best purchases I've made in many a year. Inspirational.
