i just got back from quin, and already have received 'official' news from the organisation:

>Music Alive in Quin!
>The Village of Quin was rocking with music last weekend at the 2nd running of the Seisiún na h-Éireann Festival.
>Groups of musicians representing pub sessions from all over Ireland and Belgium competed for the coveted title of best traditional Irish music pub session. One hundred and forty musicians participated in the Event.
>The overall winners taking the prize of €5,000.00 was the local group, Abbey Tavern, Quin and in joint second place was O’Friels Bar Miltown Malbay, Ciaran’s Bar Ennis and the Village Inn Quin.
>The highlight of the weekend was a concert of the 4 finalists held in a jam-packed community hall on Sunday afternoon to an audience of over 700 people.
>Special thanks to all groups whom participated.
>An Exhibition of local Art & Crafts was hugely successful and also involved an Art competition for local schools. Thanks to all the children that took part.
>The winners and 3 runners up can now look forward to recording a compilation CD before Christmas and in the Spring will embark on the All-American Seisiún na h-Éireann tour to promote the event. The tour starts Long Beach CA and moves up the West Coast to San Francisco before performing Scottsdale, Arizona and finally on to New York for 4 nights. The organisers plan to tour in Australia in 2007 and China in 2008. More information on tour dates and venues available at www.besttradsession.com

tom, for some great craic at the village inn
all the musicians that shared a few tunes with us.
eileen, for making this happen!
Eileen when did the Tavern and the Village inn start having regular sessions and what nights?
I live only 3 miles from Quin and would love another session. The only session I know of in Quin over the past 8 years or so is the friday session in Malachy's bar with John Lyons and a few odd wednesdays last year with myself and a couple of friends. By the way it was a great weekend loadsa music great.
