The festival kicked off last night with a fine performance from Gavin,Mc Goldrick,Murray and Shannon. It runs for another 8 days or so. http://openhousefestival.com/.
Lots to see here-just thought Id remind everyone about the festival- roll on Pennou Skoulm on Sunday night!
Pennou Skoulm? That's a coup and a half! Really jealous I'm not gonna be there.
If anybody has the chance, go see these lads. Brilliant Breton musicians. I'm sure the rest of the festival is going to be cracking, going by previous years.
Would love to see / hear "Na Buachailli". I remember great sessions with them up in Gaoth Dobhair around Easter in the 70s. Is Dermie going to play the banjo?
Hey All - Pennou Skoulm were indeed masterful, technically superb. In the disappointingly small crowd were Flook and several Lunasa members, Donal O'Connor & others. I thought that Niall & Caoimihin Vallely with Paul Meehan were excellent too, I thought Niall was going to take off during one of the numbers.
I was at a great session in Whites on Sat Afternoon, top quality playing from many familiar names. It has been a great festival already and it's only day 4.
Profoundly disappointing turnout for what will probably be for me the gig of the festival. Im listening to bits of the gig now and it was really something special.Fair play to Kieran and the festival for taking the risk and bringing them over.Shame there wasnt more interest.
Buille were great too-nice blend with Pennoù Skoulm.
There was no chance of me playing anything Breton with the boys there-Glad you liked 3 Matelots Brains.Never quite sure what to play at these things-May just drag out Billie Jean sometime in the next week.
Some very good stuff to come.Liver gets a day off today tho.
