Leonard Barry's pipes where left in a taxi on Sunday night in Dublin. They havn't shown up yet,so :
Twas a black case, full set, with yellow tape on them,
an Eamonn Curran boxwood chanter and there was a wooden F whistle in the case also.
Just puttn d word out,
ya never know....
thanks,
Ditto-learnt a tune from Leonard at this year's Chewton festival-he played a few on that F whistle too-here's hoping he finds them. There are still decent people out there...
who made the full set? Sorry I've never met Leonard but knowing who made the instrument and what it looks like might help others spot it if it turns up on eBay.
I hope it's found soon. I'd be positively ill if someone took one of my babies.
As mentioned in the article the chanter is an Eamon Curran in boxwood, quite a dark, uneven stain on it and it has a bit of a bend in it if I remember rightly.
It says in the article that the regs and drones are by Brendan Ring, I was under the impression that they were Eugene Lamb in ebony brass and ivory type stuff...? I will verify later if he doesn't have em yet.
Thanks everyone.
I didn't think you frequented this ole chat room Bradley.
We weren't in the best state on Sunday as you might have guessed.
I'm sure Leonard would appreciate peoples efforts on this thread.
There might be a follow up thread in a while if there's no luck.
He's up d walls at the moment as you can imagine.
Howya peter.
i was a wee bit "under the weather" in cobblestones last sunday also. hope he gets them back soon.
maybe try a ringin all the Dublin taxi firms in the yellow pages might turn something up??

Not much to go on I know.

Re: Missing pipes
Fair play, C.
The drones and regs are indeed by Mr. Ring. blackwood, brass and light coloured wood (boxwood?) mounts. The end of the baritone reg is missing.
The low F whistle is a wooden one by Grinter.

H.

Pipes not missing
Leonard Barry's pipes have been returned.
The taxi driver ate them by accident and it took 10 days to digest them.
mad or woh..?!
