I only just got to Greenwiggle's posting a while back about being frivolous and now I feel like I'm in trouble. But heck at least I got a laugh from Jack before he went to sleep.
I have to say, that although I am a big fan of MMGs ( although I have yet to hear him live, should have in May, but he cancelled or something) I was a little disapointed with Fused. I mean, some tracks are really good, but I don't think I'll EVER understand why he decided to screw up a perfectly good track with some stupid woman saying,'Hey babe, do you wanna go out?' in a stupid accent.
No offence to anyone intended, as I thinks he's one of the greatest flute players ever, but I just can't understand why he put that on there!
to be honest i dont think it screws up the track!!! thats a pretty good track, and mike is always having a laugh and messing, its just there for a bit of fun.
Shorted?
Zapped?
Grounded?
Polarized?
Magnetized?
Arced?
Transistorized?
Transformed?
Resisted?
Feedbacked? (or should that be Fedback for past tense?)
But the big question for this board--will it be ITM?
wormdiet,
With my last quesiton, I was trying to throw some red meat to those who love to argue about such things.
I have to admit that, while it is not my cup of tea, McGoldrick does play some very exciting and fun music.
A lot of people I've met seem to be worried by 'Fused'. I don't think it's meant to be an attempt to subvert or take over the tradition. It's not a traditional album, it's a fun experiment. Some of it works better than other bits. It amazes me how well some of it does work! The traditional flute playing stands up really well against the scratching/funky bass/electronic trickery/horn sections etc. The thing that mostly endears me to it is the track with the Curtis Mayfield sounding horn arrangement.
was very pleased indeed to find out that Mike has produced a new album. Fused is fantastic - my favourite album by a mile. It seems ages since Fused appeared and I expect we are in for a few surprises from Mike. I like the title of the new album - it doesn't suggest too much ITM but I expect it will be there. I expect many of Mikes fans will be flute players like myself. I remember being amazed by the sound of Mike's flute playing when he won the BBC young tradition award and everything he has done since has impressed me in the same way.
Got my copy now so I might just toddle over to the Recordings section and post the track listing if no-ne else has done it before me. There are a few trad tracks but it is really quite a jazz fusion album. One track did turn me right off but overall I did like the album.

Re: Mike McGoldrick-Wired
Let's have a competition to think of what you would call a third album after Fused, Wired
- "Plugged"??
Isn't Wired a little open to typos - Weird

I actually don;t care if it is not ITM. As long as it's good music, that is.
