Hey guys, I've been listening to two cd's just out from folks who are regular contributors here, and thought I'd share -- Our Chris (Smith - http://www.geocities.com/coyotebanjo/) has his new CD out, and it's lovely stuff, I'm really enjoying listening to the thing. Roger Landes and Randal Bays play extensively, and Angela Mariani sings -- and to think that while they were here, I didn't realize Angie sang, or I'd've asked for songs all the whole time, what a lovely voice to listen to!
And Our Nell, Helen Roche (http://www.helenroche.net), appears on a cool new bluegrass album from the band Buffalo Smoke that's being released this weekend at the Didmarton Bluegrass Weekend at Kemble Airfield. The producer of her own solo album, Andy Metcalfe (of Squeeze and Robyn Hitchcock & the Egyptians fame) heads up Buffalo Smoke (http://www.buffalosmoke.net). He did a lovely job of producing Helen's solo album, if you haven't heard it, go have a listen (Our Conan is on it, as well as many other London musos) to the clips.
Very cool stuff, guys!
Anybody else have new cd's out or projects they've contributed to?
I will second the vote for Coyotebanjo being a great album. It's basically Chris, Roger, and Randal recorded "live", but recorded in a studio with great sound quality.
They visit a lot of tunes at the heart of the Irish tradition, and the mix of banjo, bouzouki, and fiddle sounds great.
There's also a couple of very nice songs with Angie singing.
I believe that Chris' addition to the mightycraiconline is taken from the album if you want a sample.
My now-defunct band had a CD. LoL Now only to be found in boxes in my basement, and on the iTunes Music Store. Oh, a few copies at CD-Baby if I recal... "Twice Daily" was the band name if you're truly bored. And, if you've too much money, I can make you a deal on some of the stock in the basement. LoL
hey. Being told not to resist any opertunity for plugs; Myself and Luke Ward are just about to release our debut cd which we're hoping will be out soon in shops although if any of ye were in lorient or will be at our gig in santa cruiz, tenerife on 15th sept, ye can get one directly of us!
got some of the information about tunes from this site, so i'll let you all know when we sort a launch date and if we ever manage to get a website!!!
A couple dozen members of "thesession.org" have contributed recordings that can be found at "The Mighty Craic Online" web site that Mr. Dorans has so graciously hosted:
In trying to find "the mighty craic online" url, I was surprised that it did not show up in a search in thesession.org "links" section. I tried entering "mighty craic online" and "mighty craic", found no listing.
The "buzz" around Chris Smith's old stomping grounds here in Indiana is full up and folks are very excited to hear the Coyotebanjo CD. I've been told that at least one advance copy is making the rounds!
And, since you asked... <GG>
Our Culchies' CD "Bruscar Bán" is a 'live in the studio' recording with TJ Hull on fiddle, Min Gates on bodhran and bones and m'self on bouzouki and guitar. It's popularity and he airplay it's gotten have pleasantly surprised us. This weekend we'll play festivals in W. Lafayette and Terre Haute, Indiana, and in late September we'll play at the Cincinnati Celtic World Festival, one of our favorite festivals!
"Bruscar Bán" is available at Ossian USA and at CDBaby, too.
Hi guys - I've just picked up on this thread, so sorry for my tardiness. I didn't see mentioned above Aidan Crossey's various mandolin artists compilation album, including himself, so I'll do so now. Aidan burned a "pre-release" copy for me and I have to say it is absolutely superb. No kidding, and I'm not plugging just because he's a mate.
Details here: http://www.paythereckoning.com/mandcomp.html
Zina, you a hitchcockian as well? If I had known you'd be so impressed, I'd have let it drop earlier in my time here. Approriately, the night before reading the original posts above, I was up late chasing the blues with a session of Hitchcock.
"I'm into you so far,
I'm out the other side,
and orbiting is just a waste of time.
The next time I get into you,

LOL -- I still haven't heard the cover REM did of 'Arms of Love'. One of these days. I know Peter from REM used to come on tour with RH and the Egyptians and play extra guitar sometimes. I looked through my cds when I figured out who Andy was, but I seem only to have "Respect" left.
i've already swapped one with Aidan Crossey (pending his release) and still find it hard to believe we managed to finish it, with only a few days grace, after three mad years of running around in circles _ just try getting five goatheads into one room at one time or ask simon (''never again'') . . .

I recorded a CD of Irish dance tunes 5 years ago, at different tempos to allow practice at different speeds. the 3 minute demo is at:
http://www.ceciltguitar.com
click on the "Irish Trad" button on left menu bar, and then click on the "listen to demo" button at the bottom.

Re: 2 Member CDs out...
Hey cecil that is great. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.
Very interesting seeing some of the faces behind the names.
Hey, aren't there some really scarey looking characters on this site - some of the men look a bit strange too!
Unfortunately, I'm a computer 'nurd' & wouldn't have a clue how to create an mp3, so my own contribution to that excellent facility will have to wait!
Wanders off, scratching his head & muttering..............................

I have a CD out with a great fiddle player from Belfast, Simon Bacon. There's information and clips on my site at http://www.patriciaclark.co.uk/album.htm
We've had some great feedback on it, and we haven't even had to hold a gun to a few people's heads... just threatened them with it ;o)

My band Greenhouse put out a new one last year, "One Last Cold Kiss". Check it out at www.celticfusion.org.
(and please spare me the drubbing about the "celtic", "fusion" etc!)
Cheers,

And I was going to quote from Railway Shoes instead: "The first time she saw you, she hoped you were gay..." I love that line. What a mind.
You've heard Perspex Island then, with Pete and Mike on there? It's not as zany as others, but very enjoyable.

Re: 2 Member CDs out...
I haven't! I'll have to see if I can round up a copy.
My favorite line in Railway Shoes was: "It's hard to recover when you're the disease", actually, the very next line.
