just wanting to see if ant one here is from england.
im from england and live in long eaton near nottingham city.
i play at the nottingham irish music centre sessions on monday nights (when they start again)
I'm from England but I don't live there as I'd rather stab myself right through my aorta with a javelin than go back to that miserable, rainy old hole.
No Conan, you see I'm much more mentally sophisticated than an orang utan so I would almost certainly use some sort of "tool" like an aorta-stabbing javelin machine.
Ah I seee. I should have remembered you were a bit cleverer than most primates from Newcastle; didn't you develop the opposable thumb so you could hold a plectrum?
Hey S.McMullen How's it going. I'm playing at the Tiger in Long Eaton tonight. The Spinning Jenny Folk Club. I live in Beeston Rylands (no turds there). Have a look at my profile to find out what I play ect... Do you know Trevor (play me another fiddle tune) Buck? He goes to the Irish Centre on Mondays. I've been meaning to go myself but not got around to it yet. Fill in your profile and give us a bit of info about yourself.
Not far from Nottingham to Sheffield. Lauching hopefully the first of many sessions at The Upperthorpe hotel on Tuesday night or there's our launch of the Irish Centre on the 3rd and 4th Spetmber. I'm only a lowley singer but there should be at least a good piper and a goog fiddler on Tuesday marking the resumption of their playing together.
mikk the tiger inn really lolol thats well wierd i live about 2 streets away from that place near the libary omg we shud get together some time.Irish sessions start again on 10th september at the nottingham irish centre maybe we cud arrange to a date when we both go . Sorry in dont know buck it will be my first time at the centre on the 10th hope to see u there!. only 16 b.t.w . whats happeneing at the tiger inn tonight? give me some info and i might be down there its only like a 3 minute walk.
and j fother i like to sing as well on some songs but i do play the banjo and tin whislte and a bit of guitar(just some chords )im really low on cash soon but yeh im interested i think once ive started going bk to college and got myself a part time job u might see me in shefiled a few times.

o yeh my interests i play the tenor banjo mostly which is my most practiced instrument. i do play the tin whistle and guitar a bit and i hope to get a mandolin soon. erm i love almost all Irish music pretty much every form there is Irish music is my life at the moment. im half irish my favourite artists r probably the Dubliners chieftains Christy moore pogues Clancy bros Gerry o Connor four men and a dog the wild geese i think i just like all Irish music from the old mayo sounds to the punk irish music of the pogues. threes something in the music which sets me at rest and threes nothing i love more besides my family and girlfriend.
If its Irish I love it
No Time to explain all now got to dash - but if I see a young person with banjo in The Tiger tonight I'll make myself known.
I'm Old and will most likely be the only person in the room with a low whistle - not many tunes tonight I'm afraid. It's an open mike night.
I'm from, wait for it, a place called Ramsbottom, in Lancashire, England. I live in Rochdale now, centre of the Universe, and cultural hub of the Uilleann Piping world. (Ask Becky Taylor!)
38 years ago, when Christie Moore was not yet famous and doing the local folk clubs with us, me and my mate used to do Irish songs and Bluegrass with guitars and banjos. Now, 35 years later we are doing much the same thing, but only for ourselves and a selected audience. Wouldn't mind getting back into public performance, though. Uilleann piping is my newest endeavour.
I'm in Norwich and it's not raining (not right this moment that is) not miserable and there are no dog turds (cats maybe).
Can you really get orang utans on ebay? Never thought of it myself
I couldn't wait to leave France when I was 18, and I've never regretted doing so. I've lived in London for 26 years and I still love it. If I ever moved anywhere else, it would have to be Glasgow.
Glasgow has a great music scene, what you on about?
And it's not a town, it's a city in Scotland!!!!!
Glasgow is the best, so much culture, so many differant musicians etc man!
You ever been?
b.t.w can i just say a big thanks to mikk who showed me a truly great night at the tiger inn last night im very glad i met u and hope that we have many more outings and sessions together.
I for one am proud to have been born in the "Island of the mighty" and proud of what this land has given to the world, not least of which is our flexible and eclectically derived language.
Hi PP, maybe you should come to Australia and go down to redfern and tell the locals how proud you are of what "Island of the mighty" has given to the world! That would be a laugh woudlnt it Dow???
Anyhow - I dont feel any less safe in Glasgow than I do in London or Sydney or any other city Ive ever been to. Stacey when you get older you may have the oppurtunity to travel the world and then you'll realise that all cities have their good areas and their bad areas.
Yeah, Newtown used to be a really bad area until you left the other week. Now I can walk the streets without worrying that some loud-mouthed Aussie Sheila with hoop earrings is going to pounce on me from out of the bushes and scratch me to death and nick my mobile phone.
Oh yes, it's fun to slag off England & the English, but just think of all the class trad musicians who have been born, or been nurtured in England.
Think of folk like Mick O'Connor, probably the finest ITM Tenor Banjo player living today!
Need I mention Mike McGoldrick?
I could go on & on & oN & ................!
Let's not forget all the wonderful music, instruments & musicians to come out of the Northumbrian traditiontoo.
Think of all the great N. E. Hornpipes alone, which have been adapted for ITM!

This music wouldn't have its character without the weather of the British Isles. It even sounds better when it's raining.

Re: Any one here from England?????
They call it England, but it was not always so. Before they came it belonged to us.
One day we will drive the invaders back into the sea.
Meanwhile we'll just sell them rock and fudge and stupid little car stickers, and charge them exorbitant rates for seaside cottages.
