I'm here for the education and moral support. The education part has served me particularly well. I always get good answers when I ask a questions and reading anwers to others questions has also helped a great deal......and the laughs, I can't forget the laughs. Many times I'm caught laughing out loud at "the session" when I should be slaving at my desk.
Most of my musical friends think the only kind of music is classical...I'm tired of them rolling their eyes at me or worse yet run when they see me coming.
We are here because we are not there. Unless we are a quantum particle, in which case we might be able to be both here and there at the same time, but I think that can only happen when we don't know where we are. But there is a certain amount of uncertainty inherent in that statement.
'Cause boys& girls like to have fun, and we love The Beat of this music, and its sadness sometimes. We want to share the passion and pass it on, through our playing, and the diversity of our instruments (are some instruments more equal than others by the way ? but this is another debate).
And there are a lot of fun people on this site, from purists to (heaven forbid) tightass deconstructionists.
Amen
I'm here because my probabilty function collapsed at this point in space-time. Help! I've been Heisenberged! Or have I? I'm a bit uncertain. When my cat tells the story, it's Schroedinger who's in the box, and he always dies.
I'm here because I don't like cats and would hate to be in the box with the cat.
Jack did you really expect serious anwers to this one?
It's too early in the day and I am too sober to start getting all philosophical.
I'm here because whenever I try to do a google search for a tune, I always seem to end up here. Since I have joined, I haven't used the tunes... odd...
Another reason would be that I don't really know anyone who enjoys this music. Gets rather lonely sometimes. So, it's good for a laugh to read what other ITM musicians are up to.
Well, both my parents were VERY fond of each other so they married and the won't tell me the rest........OH you mean HERE. Coz I'm at work and there's nothing better to do.
Why are we all here?
Why are we all here?
Seemed like the next logical question considering the current trend in thread topics. The next one should be, "Is there a God?"

Re: Why are we all here?
Besides agreeing with Antikhntr (though I haven't asked any questions yet)...
Would you be refering to musical transmission lines such as Galway / Offaly / Dublin? or more locally like Gort / Oranmore/ Doolin?
I'll return to lurking now....

When I see what some people do I wonder why we are here at all.
When I see what other people do I know exactly why we are here.

A bit like Schrodinger's cat. No one seems to know whether the unfortunate creature is alive or dead.

Re: Why are we all here?
When I was but a little lad
The life I had was kinda sad
I played the djembe, but played it bad
And saw no sign of progression.
But then - oh what the joy I had
To find out this great site for trad
In seconds it was my new fad
Oh, blesséd be TheSession!
In first few weeks, or months, I think
I must've followed every link
Forgetting to eat, sleep, work or drink
- The knowledge I got made my head spin.
Every day I love more the diddle
I started to play the flute a little
(I also tried to play the fiddle,
But the neck breaks upon hitting drumskin)
