It's been quite a while since I visited this site.
I am planning to travel by air with my bouzouki, and was wondering if somebody has a copy of the letter allowing one to take a musical instrument(s) on board the plane. Or, could someone direct me where to find a copy.
BTW, I've started taking two of these letters in every case. At some point or other, I've given the extra copy to another musician while in an airport.
Sure, I can send it via e-mail if you like, send me your e-mail address -- but you might also try right clicking and choosing "save link target" or whatever and see if it saves it to your computer.
What were you doing in Longmont, and why didn't you tell me you were coming!?
Thanks for the tips. Yes, I do have Adobe Acrobat, and I realized that site was being blocked. I have the letter now.
I was visiting my sister. I remember reading a while back that you hosted a session near there. I thought about it while I was there, but we just couldn't work it in. It would've been great to meet you!
I had to put it on the BMI plane last week :( It was ok, good calton case. But i was with Aaron Jones that week and he had done it with Easy Jet and his bouzouki neck had totally split- a Sobell. Don't take the risk! that's what you get.
BTW Zina, we saw "Cherish The Ladies" while we were there. It was Fri. Aug. 12th to be exact, at the Boulder Theater. They were excellent! Is that when Chris Smith was there? If so, I'm planning to go to Zoukfest, and will probably see him there?
Also, thanks Zookman. You scared the s*** out of me!
Nope, they were there the week before! Chris isn't teaching at Zoukfest this year, but he'll probably come up for the weekend he said -- maybe he'll chime in and say if he is for sure. I hope so, I want him to talk Pete into going.
Interestingly, have not had a problem travelling with the instruments as hand luggage (so long as they go in the overhead locker or under the seat). However we flew from Birmingham UK to Knock last week and they picked up on the spare strings in the case and said that you can "only fly with wires if they are attached at both ends". Never heard that one before and I'm not sure it appears on the notices at airports.
So - be warned - spare strings in the hold luggage just to be sure! Otherwise you either have to lose the strings or check in the instrument if your other baggage has already gone through.
Sometimes I think they make it up on the spot at the airport security.

Hello everyone.
It's been quite a while since I visited this site.
I am planning to travel by air with my bouzouki, and was wondering if somebody has a copy of the letter allowing one to take a musical instrument(s) on board the plane. Or, could someone direct me where to find a copy.
Thanks very much.

Wow, thanks for the quick reply Zina. Still living near Longmont, Colorado? I just came back from there.
When I click on that link, I get a blank screen. Any other way you can send it?
Thanks.

Er...do you have Adobe Acrobat? If you don't, that pdf won't do you much good. If you need a jpg instead, let me know.

K, well, next time, then. Plan it in, for god's sake!
(You missed Chris Smith being in town -- what if he was here while you were!)

Thanks for the tip helenakitt. Never heard of that before. I will definitely check the spare strings.
