A Pogues' Tune Query

A Pogues' Tune Query

Anyone recognize the tune that begins "Young Ned of the Hill"? Sounds real "maritimey" (as opposed to "old timey" I suppose). and isn't the music, per O'Neill, for the song "Ned of the Hill". It's great gas and could be quasi-trad, I reckon, but has an authentic feel to it. I'm trying to learn it by ear, but am missing something--perfect pitch. If someone can identify it, I can find the sheet music, I hope. Thanks.

Sounds almost like an old clan march to me - it doesn;t sound like a reel or HP and definitely not a jig.

Do yerself a favor and learn it by ear :) If you can find the title let me know.

Re: A Pogues' Tune Query

Great memory, Darin! That's it, surely. I'll keep searching for the title, but in the interim, I can learn it now. Just a thought, but it could be the music to a Child ballad. Will have to check that angle out. Many thanks.
