hi, all. i have recently started playing a sweetone d-whistle and love it. i got the whistle from a friend, but would like to buy one for two more pairs of keys. does anyone know where one could buy a whistle in croatia/slovenia/austria and which to look for in terms of quality?
If you're going after more SweeTones, the quality is pretty consistent. If you're interested in other brands, you will probably find some variation in quality...Generation, in particular, is famous for producing both outstanding whistles and total dogs, and sometimes you have to go through quite a few to find that good one! Personally, among the cheaper whistles, I've had the best luck with SweeTones, Oaks, Susatos, and Feadógs. Dixons and Syns can be pretty nice too, though they're a tiny bit pricier. Or, if you don't mind paying just a bit more, the Cillian Ó Briain "improved" Feadóg available from Shannaquay is an astoundingly good whistle.
I've bought instruments from all of the above, by the way, and have been pleased with the customer service from all of them.

Re: where to buy a tin whistle in CE?
Are you open to buying something on-line? There are lots of internet sources for tin whistles, including:
http://www.thewhistleshop.com/
http://www.shannaquay.com/
http://www.larkinam.com/
http://www.gaeliccrossings.com/store/
