B part seeks A part

B part seeks A part

This B part is stuck in my head but I can't remember what the A part is. What tune is this? Can someone help? My remaining shreds of sanity hang in the balance.

Re: B part seeks A part

Sounds like part of a waltz I have heard the fiddling brothers Seamus and Manus McGuire play with (or without) Jackie Daly. Check any of their solo or "Buttons and Bows" recordings.

Louis' Waltz

One take on it is here on site:

I may add another. It's a lovely tune...

"Louis' Waltz"

I, and others, play this waltz with 'swing', or '>'...

Re: B part seeks A part

This is like 'old times' ~ the first 100 Discussions here at TheSesh were mostly about such things, looking for missing bits, or the notes to a title...

How about this tune

I did a search using the first four and six notes of a tune and did not find anything. I might have heard it in a different key than notated. I thought it a common enough tune to be in the database. It is a reel and it starts:

EBGB AGB2

I am wretched with the ABCs. Do I have that right with the capitals being the lower octave? And that is a G sharp.

7 notes in search of completion ~ Re: B part seeks A part and all in between ~

I love it you guys, what a kick, a side trip, but somehow right...

Re: B part seeks A part

That's it Will. Thanks a million.

I know I got the last bit wrong, but I did search as search for:

EBGB AG

What did I do wrong there?

Oh, duh. I see that you noted it with the caret for the sharp?

That's a tune that I have not heard enough to fully learn. I have about 3/4's of it and heard someone playing it the other night. Heck, I might even add it to my non-existant tune list!

Re: B part seeks A part

cross posted ceolachan...I'm a newbie with the tune section and ABCs.

Re: B part seeks A part

Welcome! ~ if you have any problems with ABCs ask, send an email. If I can't sort it I'll refer you one to someone more in the know than I... Don't give up, it is a good thing to get familiar with...and it will get easier...

Re: B part seeks A part

Thanks everybody!
That Boys of the Lough album is definitely where I heard it years ago. I guess I'll cancel my reservations at the loony bin...
