Seeking musicians for new session in Nagasaki, Japan

If you are within commuting distance to Nagasaki, and would like to join a new session that I have been asked to start up at a new Irish-themed pub, please e-mail me via this site.

Wow! I was in Japan over ten years ago and the only Irish pub was in Osaka and they charged a tener a pint. Amazing to think of sessions all over although Nagasaki is very cosmopolitan. Wish I could join in. Are you on JET?

Wow! There are quite a lot of regular Irish music sessions in Tokyo areas though I've been attending just one or two of them. I know some people are playing Donegal music in Hokkaido, and it seems the scene in Osaka is very lively too. And now in Nagasaki as well! Hope I can join you some day.

Re: Seeking musicians for new session in Nagasaki, Japan

Well, all I can say about "the scene" is that there is an Irish-themed pub here, and I have talked with the (American) owner, and he is interested in having traditional music. He is willing to let me play there whenever I want, but it will be quite boring without a few other musicians.

So far I haven't received any responses via this posting, so I'm not optimistic, but I will try some other resources -- local music stores and such.

Regarding my reasons for living here -- no I am not a JET (but I am familiar with the program, and I'm sure I'll meet several JETs while I'm here). Actually I am an engineer on assignment at Sony in Isahaya (~30min from Nagasaki). I will be here for a year, and would greatly love to keep playing Irish traditional music at least a little bit.

All the best!
Brian
