Another thing you'll find here is a wide spectrum of views about competition in music. Many people here have no time for the notion of playing music as a competitive thing, others like it. I won't use this moment to express any opinion on the matter, but since you are pleased with the invite I'll wish you all the best in it - as I'm sure will many others here.
I'm just pleased with the fact that I can finally put my fiddle somewhere besides in it's case. I never get to play fiddle for people and, since I'm looking for people to play with (as in guitarists and drummers(my sis plays the bodhran. SHH.) and others) I figured a competition will attract many. I hate competing, actually. I have a friend who competes with me all the time (in EVERYTHING!!!!) and it's nerve wracking. And standing up on a stage getting compared to a bunch of other people is not something I like to do, but hey. If I win anything (which is highly doubted) it'll be something I can tell people.
