where can i find a CD or 2 on slow airs just low whistle maybe some backgroung music but MOSTLY whistle ( for training and inspiration) in the seamus egan ,or spillane fashion
Mmmm, very good question. I don't have it myself, but in 2001 the renown uilleann piper Joe McKenna released a solo album dedicated enitirely to the low whistle. it's entitled "The Irish Low Whistle." i imagine there are a mix of slow airs as well as dance tunes on it. good luck on your search. please report on whatever you come up with. i love playing slow airs on the low whistle. thanks!
It's not all low whistle but splendid all the same
He's got the most extensive collection of Overtons i've ever seen, going right down to a B nat under the low C.
There's a lovely duet with an oboe.
And Nollaig Casey plays the fiddle
Just bought a new CD in Ireland during a visit last week. Celtic Moon: an enchanting collection of Scottish and Irish ballads and airs on low whistle. Great CD features Phil Brown on whistle and some nice guitar work by Ken Nicol. Highly recommended. I'll post the info in the recordings section.

EveryBreath by James McNally (former Storm and Pogues member) is another interesting CD. Lots of synthesized elements that give the CD a very "new-age" feel, but his skill on the low-whistle is clearly evident.

Songs of the Irish Whistle by Joannie Madden is a good one. I've been playing along with it on my Dixon Low D and Hi D duo.
