Stolen Mandolin Banjo

Stolen Mandolin Banjo

My mum had her car stolen last Thursday night, after thieves broke into the house and took the keys. Unfortunately the car had her treasured Melody Maker mandolin banjo in the boot.

The car hasn't been recovered yet, although fortunately my father's car that was stolen at the same time has been.

If anyone happens to see or hear about a Melody Maker mandolin banjo for sale in the Midlands (Northampton) area, can you drop me an email please.

Many thanks,

Mike

Re: Stolen Mandolin Banjo

My deepest sympathies.

Personally I never leave any unattended instruments in a vehicle.
I do also understand that there is a rise in the number of thefts of wehicles, taking opportunity of people who leave their keys in the front hall near the door. I tend to deposit mine in all sorts of places, and can occasionally spend ten minutes hunting for them. My daughter tried to help by buying a Christmas present of one of these beeping key rings. It is the devil ! Play any note above C sharp, laugh, whistle, have the music or the tv on too loud, it goes off.

Re: Stolen Mandolin Banjo

It's bad enough to have the instrument missing, but to make it worse she's got to be the setup to the worlds oldest banjo joke - man, that's rough.

More seriously, its always a hell of a thing to have an instrument made off with. May the little punks who had nothing better to do than make off with other peoples' instruments live long and miserable lives after contracting two or three debilitating and disfiguring diseases apiece. And I hope your mother gets her monstrosity back.

Re: Stolen Mandolin Banjo

whats the banjo joke?

and yeah, has anyone ever heard the song "nell flaherty's drake"? that song applied to any instrument thieves, as well!

Re: Stolen Mandolin Banjo

I think I know of such a banjo hanging on the wall of a Thai restaurant in North London.
I could always speak to the propriator ( sp? ), who is a friend, if your mothers' treasure doesn't come back.
