Either use Medium gauge or light gauge with a heavier gauge for the top two strings. There are some manufacturers who make a custom DADGAD set but beyond that I don't think any one manufacturer's strings are more suited than another for DADGAD. You need to find the strings that suit you and your guitar and then get the gauges right.
I like Elixirs. They're about three times as expensive, and they last at least five times as long.
Worry less about the strings than about the pick: for DADGAD chording, make it feather-light. If you're accompanying well, you'll be just loud enough--and if you're not accompanying well, you might not want us to hear you.

Re: DADGAD strings
Have a look at http://www.the-music-room.com/system/index.html for specific sets (scroll down and click on "strings page"), and http://www.thesession.org/discussions/display.php/6890 from general discussion.

Re: DADGAD strings
For DADGAD I use Martin light gauge on the -ADG-- and medium gauge on the D---AD. Seems to work well that way.

Re: DADGAD strings
I use a Santa Cruz OM PW and a Lowden O32, and I like D'Addario Flat-Tops EFT-16 sets for both. I don't change any of the gauges.
