I was listening to Kevin Crawford's 'In Good Company' where he plays 'The Bag of Spuds' (I'm pretty sure!) in Em (I think!) and it reminded me of MaMo's Templehouse, Nice an' easy. Lovely.
My favorite slow aire is Ned of the Hill, my nominee for the saddest tune known to man (and I mean that in a good way). There is a nice book and CD set of aires that OssianUSA sells, by Thomas somebody (I wish I was home so I could give you the name)--I recommend it because you can't really get a new air from the dots, it must be heard as well
But just listen to the words, Al ! It's a happy song, they get it together and run away ! It's like Jock O' Hazelwhatever, she's o'er the border and awa'.
But yes, love a low whistle. Why are they so different to a flute ? My SO is curious about getting a low C as she already has a wooden flute.
Idir Deighric 'Gus Breo' always works, at least in my part of the world, where ITM still is exotic.
How do your hands feel now, after a few days of spreading your fingers? And I'm curious, too. What whistle did you buy?
I Just Bought a New Low D Whistle
I Just Bought a New Low D Whistle

Yay! Don't you love getting new instruments? Have fun with it -- don't have a rec, but I know whatever you play on your new baby will be fun!

Re: I Just Bought a New Low D Whistle
Dzoni, Crawford and Hayes are actually in Cdorian on "In Good Company." Two flats. Not a friendly key for low D whistle.
But Bag of Spuds works well in Edor on low whistle.

Or, George White's (in D!) into Killarney Boys of Pleasure.

What did you get? I just got a Low F myself and I love it. I second Boys of Pleasure played slowly.
