A grand musician R.I.P. Can`t help but notice that you seem to specialise in this type of information,Martin. How many `in `memoriam` notices do you reckon you`ve put up on the Session over the years?

not sure how many ,but when friends send important news ,as above ,i feel there are people that might like to know ,however ,i will ask you first if it is ok to do so ,as you seem to value that over Paddys death ..................................

Re: Longford Fiddler,Paddy Reynolds passed away in New York this morning

Paddy was from Ballinamuck ,Co Longford ,which is over the border from Co Cavan ,we had many a tune down through the years ,my friend John Daly in Chicago has just been finishing a cd of Paddys from old recordings that had not been released and were in Paddys house ,alas Paddy never got to see it come out ......it was planned for the catskills week in July and then we were going to do a few Irish Launches .his EMAIL IS johndalychicago@yahoo.com for info ,and if anyone wanted to find out about the CD, give John a week before talking to him about it ,he is very upset at this time.Martin

Re: Longford Fiddler,Paddy Reynolds passed away in New York this morning

In a note breaking the sad news to the Washington CCE e-mail list, Ira Goldman says it all: "The great Longford (and NY) fiddler PADDY REYNOLDS has died. With the late Andy McGann he represented an entire generation of the finest traditional Irish fiddle music. His loss is beyond measure. His music
lives forever."

I have the CD of Paddy Reynolds and Andy McGann and would recommend it to anyone. Both great fiddlers

How wonderfully appropriate they should go within months of each other after long lives of making great music.

I'll play your tunes tonight in your honour.

RIP Paddy.

Re: Longford Fiddler,Paddy Reynolds passed away in New York this morning

A sad loss indeed. I had the LP of Paddy Reynolds and Andy McGann and it was great music to listen to. Does anyone know from that recording which of the two of them grunted when they were playing?

Re: Longford Fiddler,Paddy Reynolds passed away in New York this morning

I believe that was Andy. There's definitely a lot of grunting on his solo record with Paul Brady. Perhaps it was Paul, in fact! That would explain a lot....
