Hi all -- I'm wondering if there's a search feature to look up past discussions?
For instance, I've been wondering what "gan aimh" is and how it's pronounced. How can I find previous threads on the subject without looking through all 600+ pages?
I'm also looking for an explanation of the difference between single, double and treble jigs.
Above = bollox. Single jig = jig with lots of crotchet-quaver pairs, double jig = normal everyday jig, treble jig = complex dance step to slowed-down jig with something of a 6/4 feel.
Heh. Sorry, Michael, has this all been helpful to you at ALL? The thing is, we've had some mighty vociferous discussions on that very subject. However, some of it was in the tune archives. http://thesession.org/tunes/display.php/4176 is one of the shorter ones, but I can't remember what some of the others were. Anybody else remember? Anyway, do the search, you're sure to find lots of info on it.

Re: Some questions
Jigs: No such thing as treble jigs, single jigs aren't really jigs, and double's what you're used to - there!

Re: Some questions
single jigs often dont have a note on the second beat like :
1-3456 compared to double jigs which are
123456
example the single jig 'off she goes'
