I have been waiting for Flook to come out to the West Coast for the past 3 years and the closest they have ever come is New Mexico and unfortunately I was in England at the time.....
I'm playing at the Potomac festival too(Welsh music, unfortunatly, long story), on one of the smaller stages, so I'll probably hear them then, and I'm taking one of the workshops the 14th(flute/whistle), AND Fredericksburg is only half an hour from here, so I might see them there too! I haven't heard them before, so I'm looking forward to it. BTW, think that they probably mean the Irish Brigade Tavern, not the Irish Bridge Tavern, because that's the name of the only Irish tavern type thing in Fredericksburg that I know of, and it's not that big a town.
they couldn't get their visas in time for the tour. what a drag - yet another case where well known, established artists have problems in this area! And we were signed up for the workshops, too. Everyone is very disappointed.
so are we!! (disapointed about not being able to tour). You wouldn't believe the hassle we went through trying to get the visas. The application was started months ago by a specialist legal firm in the US who we hired. At (literally) the last minute they realised that US immigration had copied our names down wrong on the form ("clerical error")... so we had to re-apply, but it was too late by that stage. We're planning to go over in October now, as we'll definately have the visas by then! We'll try and re-organise as many of the cancelled gigs / workshops as possible over the coming months.

Hup Andy!!
All isn't lost, after all you were able to provide some tasty back up to my reels last night in Dalkey!!!!! thanks for that - Never knew you were on this site....S
Just came back from the Potomac Celtic Fest. It was a grand time, good craic and all, but rather disappointing that Grada weren't there. I'm on the air right now, told the listeners about the difficulty, and suggest that they write to INS and Homeland Security. It might do some good, but most likely not much.
Anyway... Andy, Anne-Marie, Gerry, and co, I hope you're doing well over on your side of the pond. I had a grand time with you in Valley Forge at the fest there in March, and hopefully it won't be too long before you get back on this side of the pond.
Now... what's this I hear about Anne-Marie leaving the group? Tell me it's not so!
