Folkworks

I've just been to Folkworks Hexham gathering and it was brlliant! I was just wondering if anyone on this site goes to the Hexham gathering or to the Summer schools. Woo! Folkworks rule! By the way, does anyone enter the Young folk award either?

Re: Folkworks

I'm too past it for the Youth Folkworks stuff but I've been to the Adults summer school and to a few of the Workout weekends- usually in October. They always have good tutors of various traditions and you get the option of instrument workshop to look at technical stuff and band workshop to work on playing as a group- for concert or ceilidh performance. Then th evenings are for informal sessions and also tutor concerts. Sometimes there are structured sessions to help the relative beginner- all very entertaining .

I've not done the Hexham gathering- Folkworks web info seems to have been buried within the Sage Gateshead web site now and I find it hard to get enough info.

Re: Folkworks

Went to the F/W weekend last Autumn - as much Irish and Scottish as Northumbrian music was played, so they cater for (nearly) all tastes.
