Amazing Slowdowner Help needed

Amazing Slowdowner Help needed

Hello - I am always raving about this computer software that slows down CDs and music files without changing the pitch. It's been extremely helpful for me over the last few years.

I have a friend in Ireland who's only been playing the music for a couple years. He ordered the Amazing Slowdowner and has been having troubles with it. Here's part of his email:

"No matter what CD i put into the drive it plays for 2 minutes or so and then gives me an error message. Error 139 cannot play audio CD please go to general settings and change. Changing the settings does nothing to resolve the problem always the same story."

Can anyone give me some suggestions for this?? I'm not computer savvy enough to help him, especially being 3,000 miles away at the moment.

Thanks everyone!

Joyce

Re: Amazing Slowdowner Help needed

Hi Joyce,

I had the same problem when I tried to reinstall ASD on a new computer. You need to find the license file that was sent to you when you purchased. Besides entering the license key, you need to run this file on your system. Once you do that, things should work fine.

It is not enough to just enter the license key. Otherwise, you will have the problems you mentioned.

Good luck.

What I sometimes do is to rip a CD, then play it in windows media player. You can adjust the speed settings but the pitch stays the same. I'm using XP so I'm not sure if it works in '98 etc.

Joyce, I second the recommendation to use Windows Media Player. Once a track or cd is copied into the Media Library, you just click View, Enhancements, and Play Speed Settings. Works great.

Hello,

I use a plugin for Winamp called "Chronotron" - one can change pitch and tempo separately. It only works with mp3s but is excellent.

Joyce
the trial Amazing slow downer works for 2 minutes/first track as described in your message- need to fork out the $25 to buy it- I've used it on my Mac for the last 2 years without a hitch and has proven invaluable ( or not... depending on who is listening) to learn tunes. I also upgraded the rev on it and had to reinput the license as shep wrote.

Re: Amazing Slowdowner Help needed

Hey thanks for this very informative thread.
What works best for me is loading Chronotron, which is absolutely free by the way, then both Winamp and Widoze Media player can use it as a plug-in.
Sound quality isn't great with my version of Winamp, BUT it appears to give better sound quality than the built in speed option when used in Media player(!)
Also it'll adjust a file just being played with media player without any need for it in the media lib.

In case anyone's scratching for the plug-ins options on media player -
Left click on the strange little almost square box with inscrutable green heiroglyphs of some sort at the top left of the 'now-playin' window.

Oh and Joyce, a lot of people have come across that Slowdowner problem, mostly people used to words like 'crack' and 'keygen' - Not me of course ;-)
It's amazing, they now want $45.00 for that particular bit of software which Chronotron appears to do for nothing.

Oh Ok that's annoying, it's not free , it's Shareware with a $26 tag on it :-(
Doh!
