Padraig Rynne

Padraig Rynne

Has Padraig Rynne launched his solo album yet.

I love Padraig Rynnes concertina playing, I heard he launched it in Roisin Dubh in Galway last week but I think I was misinformed.

Thanks in advance ;)

You were misinformed alright. That didn't happen.

Re: Padraig Rynne

Padraig, who along with Hugh Healy played with the All-Ireland Slogadh champions, St Flannan's traditional music group, is a mighty concertina player. He's been featured on recordings with the group Cian and if he does make a solo recording it will definitely be worth looking out for.

Re: Padraig Rynne

I'm also a big fan of Padraig. I used to stay in Galway just for his mighty concertina playing. Is he still based in Galway?

Does anyone know when he is launching it?

Re: Padraig Rynne

It seems he's also on this recording: http://www.thesession.org/recordings/display.php/1398 Dympna O'Sullivan is also a great concertina player.

Re: Padraig Rynne

He is in fact living back in Ennis, he had just moved back when I met up with him when I was there last November. He was telling me about the solo recording project he's working on and it sounds like it should be very good. He told me he's "calmed down a bit" from how he played in Cian, but however he decides to adjust his playing will be brilliant I'm sure. I'm looking forward to hearing what he meant.

You're lucky I didn't know you were in Ennis.

Re: Padraig Rynne

A concertina friend of mine who lives in Ennis told me that he was releasing his solo album "later this year" but couldn't be more specific than that.

Re: Padraig Rynne

It seems Galway town has lost some great musicians in a last few years. Hope Brendan Browne is still playing there. He's another of my favourite players.

Re: Padraig Rynne

When he was leaving the States last summer, he gave me an e-mail address for him. You might try asking him directly about the recording, if the address is still "good." Try him at padraigrynne@hotmail.com.

Re: Padraig Rynne

Mairin, have you got his permission to put his email address on this site? It seems for his personal use.

I saw PR last november at an amazing gig :-) loved it !!!
and because I'm also passioned about photography I took a few photo's of that gig... he contacted me later on... so there's a big chance one of mine is used on that album...
