I was playing in Ciaran's in Ennis on Wed 30th there and was approached by a fella asking can he have a shot on me drum. Fairly taken back I was when I got a good look at him as it was the wiseguy Henry Hill (the man himself that Goodfellas was based on). He joined in fairly competently on a set of jigs then once he got the all clear he sang a very nice Sicilian song then proceeded to get the drinks in. Henry Hill has since left Clare and Ireland, whereabouts unknown...
If it had been a guy named _Harold_ Hill, he might have asked you to chip in some bucks to support the River City Boys Bodhran Band.
Of course, there's some debate as to whether he knows the territory...
I heard that he left Ireland for Europe to visit his Aunt, whom he calls Aunt Hill. Then we visited his counsin, Mo Hill. He is currently travelling to Southeast Asia to visit his long lost cousin, Dung Hill.
I saw Mo Green (Godfather Part 1) at a session not that long ago. I asked him "Were you not shot through the eye?" but he just gave me a sheepish look. Yes, not even a goatish look.
As this was in Norn Ireland maybe he was just scared.
Must phone our banjo player, Don Thomasino, and let him know where Henry is.
Fiddlemouse, you can talk, you can bicker, you can talk, you can bicker, you can talk talk talk talk bicker bicker bicker bicker, but it's different than it was!
By the way, if I was part of a moderately sized, mixed-gender band, I'd want to call it Libertine Men and Scarlet Women.
I'm actually quite gratified that I remember as much of "Music Man" as I do. It balances out all the "Star Trek" trivia (see this thread:http://thesession.org/discussions/display.php/6244) on the other side of my brain ("Brain and brain! What is brain?")
Henry Hill on the bodhrán...
