If somebody here now, where in internet is available a good "interaktive" tutor fo uilleann pipe? In Moscow, where i live, no tutors are available at all, and book anything in net is actually hopeless. Also if you have any recommendations for playng, please, answer me here or write on my mail adress (chieftains@rambler.ru)
The second is that you consider music school in Ireland. Every weekend and most weeks in Ireland have festivals and you can get some great lessons in a week that will give you a good start. Or maybe just a weekend?
Thank you.And what about this cd-rom- is it realy good tutors?
Actually, it would to be well, to find some tunes (in gif, for example), arranged for this instrument( with all legato, staccato, rolls cranns etc.)If somebody see that?
I'm afraid, that visit to Ireland is avariant not for me- to far from Moscow.
Отлично! Если получится, можно будет встретится и поиграть вместе, например, small pipes и bodhran хорошо звучат вместе.А вообще в Москве довольно много людей слушают эту музыку, и волынщики тоже есть!
I tried learning them a few years back. My only advice is that you avoid having anything to do with Stephan Hannigan (author of the low whistle tune book).
The videos from NPU & the CD from madfortrad are all excellent.
What you can do with the madfortrad cd rom is save all the mpg tune files to your pc , get some software to convert them to .wav files & burn them to a normal cd, then you can listen to them over & over without having to sit behind a PC, it's a great way to get the tunes in your head & then when you have the time you can use the cd rom to go through the tutorials , but I would definitely also recommend the NPU videos.
Eamonn is right. However, IMHO, the NPU videos (The Art of Uilleann Piping 1,2,3) are much better for beginners. The MadForTrad CDs are not the best for beginners, the instructor does not even demonstrate how to play the second octave notes, actually he just play the tunes. You can also digitize the NPU videos with a capture card and you can make audio CDs as well; I did it for me myself. After you are done with the first video of the NPU series, then you can buy the MadForTrad CD, when you are an intermediate player.
My two cents,
Miki
Sandy, you might like to listen to a short video clip of a fine Uilleann Piper from the North of Ireland, John Hughes, by going to this page: http://www.myspace.com/causewaytraditions

Hi.
I understand your problems and I have two solutions. The first is that you check out these interactive products.
http://www.madfortrad.com/
The second is that you consider music school in Ireland. Every weekend and most weeks in Ireland have festivals and you can get some great lessons in a week that will give you a good start. Or maybe just a weekend?

As I realize now, maybe the unicode won't display on your computer.... so I'll transliterate:
No, ya bil v Mockve dva goda nazad a nikogda ne poznakomilis ludmi, kotorim nravitcya irlandckaya muzika. Letom, esho raz a pri'edu v Mockvu.

Re: Uilleann pipe playng.
I did a search on sessions - none in Moscow. How'd you get interested in pipes ?$

Re: Uilleann pipe playng.
NPU in Dublin offers 3 video tape tutors which are nice and come with written transcriptions of the tunes taught.
