I recently posted a discussion regarding my fiddle that was stolen from my home, to get the word out in hopes that it would be returned somehow.
I'm pleased to announce that I have learned it is presently at a 2nd hand store, after speaking with the detective on the case. Obviously, the store owner is familiar with this type of thing, works often with the police, and bought the instrument for just under 6% of it's actual value, which I'll gladly reimburse.
So, if you like your instrument, I highly suggest you make careful note of what you have. My description of the fiddle in the police report made no question this was mine. And Jon Kiparsky's recent post had great suggestions on "what to do BEFORE your instrument is stolen".
Im so glad! I honestly think I would break down and cry non stop for a couple hours if anythign ever happened to my instrument. Its just so much a part of me. It is no longer just an "objest" but a living creature which grows and grows with my increasing playing ability. Glad you were reunited with your child, or lover, or whatever your instrument may be to you. Makes you appreciate it more doens;t it?
A few years ago I left my guitar (cheap nylon-strung guitar at the time) in one of the bedrooms in the student union in Glasgow along with some CDs. I came back later to find the door kicked in, toothpaste and toilet roll covering the room and guitar and CDs gone. I was gutted.
Much to my delight the following day I found two very sheepish looking students wondering around the corridor with guitar and CDs in hand trying to find the room they had pinched them from.
I was just relieved to get them back and did not care about the students who pinched them. Now if I could only get my hands on the two b*st*rds who mugged me and kicked me in in the street one day for a couple of videos!!
Congratulations on getting your fiddle back. I hope this never happens again.
I am very happy for you. It was a very helpful reminder to all with good suggestions for security.
To answer "what's that f###ing smell? Nero was also famous for the first recorded discovery of a frozen Woolly Mammoth. He had his servants cook it up for one of his feasts. Anyone for Woolly Burgers?
Sure I can, KFG. I'd probably get myself deleted if I took that one. Especially given I lived in a predominantly gay neighborhood for 14 years and ran around with a drag queen friend. The possibilities are just too, too...
radiantly off-color. ;)

If we're ever in the same geographic location, I'll have to tell you what he said to the guy who was weaving all over the road one summer afternoon. It was epic.)u

Apparently, there is hope.

"Anyone for Woolly Burgers?"
If they're anything like Woolly Buggers, no thank you.
(Come on fiddlemouse, you can't possibly resist a stright line like *that*)

Re: Stolen Fiddle RECOVERED!
Nero didn't fiddle. He played the lyre.
