I'll be in Galway for a few weeks in February. I was wondering if anyone knew of (or is) a fiddle teacher who could give me a few one-off lessons, or let me drop into a group lesson. I'm at an intermediate level. Driving distance from Galway is okay.
Hi Paul.
There is a new music school starting up in Galway city (The Des Carthy School i think) with a great fiddle teacher. You can contact her at eiliscoleman@hotmail.com and make arrangements that way. Enjoy!
Also there is an amazing fiddle teacher there called Paul Bradley,He is avery nice man and great teacher. He teaches at the willie ClancySummer school, it might be worth your while contacting him. He has a web address which should be easy to find.
If you want a really brilliant fiddle player you should get lessons with Liz Kane. She is really friendly and as patient as a saint!!! i know from experience!!! she has a website www.thekanesisters.com or something like that. you can find it on google.
good luck!!
Perhaps Máire O' Keeffe? I don't know how outdated it is but try http://www.kinvara.com/music.html - and if that's no good contact Paul Wilkins (on the page) a friend of mine and I'm sure he'll point you in a good direction.
Paul Bradley and Liz Kane are both great. Paul Bradley's website is: http://www.paulbradleyviolins.com (click on image to enter) and Liz Kane's website is: http://www.thekanesisters.com . Paul is also a great fiddle maker, player and teacher. Liz is part of the duo 'the kane sisters' with her sister Yvonne. Hope these 2 sites help.
