Hi Jimbob,
No you are not alone, we just keep a low profile : )
I have been playing my pipes in Rochdale for a good few years and have also put a few concerts on at various venues around the town under the banner of Acoustic Roots. The Michael McGoldrick band, Shooglenifty, and the Becky Taylor band to name but a few.
I play in a ITM band called Moot with 5 friends and we practice in the Cross Yates pub on Whitworth Rd every second Thursday.
On sat night at the Entwistle arms on Halifax rd there is a outstanding young singer/song writer/guitarist called Kirk McElhinney performing an acoustic set.
Tell your mam we still have the Band workshop for beginners/intermediates on the first Saturday at Eaves Green . If shes still interested ask her to get in touch by e-mail from here. TAA.
How do Liethers, Cowyeads, Pie-eaters, Rochdalians, and them as from Bent and Bongs.
You'd be welcome at the Bear house (details in session listings) every Monday neet, tha knows.
Or perhaps a Wednesday evening, maybe somewhere near a Metro stop.

Re: Folkies in Rochdale
This Rochdale? Near Manchester? I'm visiting there from time to time, and I thought I'm a loner there.
