First of all -- I am soooooo frustrated finding someone to fix my Irish flute (by David WIlliams). Can someone help me please!!! No, not Rod Cameron. Not Daniel Deitch. Not Nick Rail. The pesky thing needs a lot of fixing and I'm in California (need repair person in the USA). Can anyone help me get it fixed please?!
The self-promotion thing does not have a lot to do with Irish Music, but my first book just came out in print, and I've got a big smile on my face about the whole thing (that, in spite of the dental work done this morning). What's the book? OK, not Irish, not even close (do they have casinos in Ireland?). It is called "The Blackjack Zone" and it is about my other passion -- advantage gaming. That weird sort of second identity thing, you know... but if you want to visit, it's www.theblackjackzone.com and/or www.cardcounter.com
And if you happen to be watching the "National Geographic Channel" - I have a few spots in the show "Beating Vegas" that appears about twice a month as a repeat.
Now Jeremy, I know this second part is not ITM, but as someone who has posted here for a couple of years, could you let this one stick around a bit?
Try contacting David Migoya. http://www.fyfer-restorations.com/ He's not taking any restorations or repairs, but I'd bet he'll know who could do it for you, Eliot.
Congrats on the book, Eliot! Publishing is always a gamble, and the (publishing) house always wins--hope your luck with royalties is better than counting cards at blackjack!
I know Casey Burn (Puget Sound, WA area) does repairs on his own flutes, and has a reputation for quick turnarounds and excellent work. You might email him and ask if he'll take care of your Williams'. casey@caseyburnsflutes.com
There's an awesome guy in Tempe, Arizona. Desert Winds (http://www.desertwindsmusic.com/). The flute player in my band only trusts his Boozy-Patten (sp?) and Wilkes flutes to Jerry there...
You might try Daniel Deitch in San Francisco (415-221-2735). His specialty is making & repairing Baroque flutes, but he also repairs Boehm-System modern flutes -- and he told me he occasionally repairs Irish flutes, as well.
