I have the great fortune of finally getting to go to Ireland in the middle of March. I look forward to actually seeing and hearing the music that i play at home, on mandolin, performed by the real guys.
Does anyone know of any Ceili band festivals around St. Patrick's day? For instance, I would love to get to hear O'Carolan's concerto played about 50 times by 50 different groups in 3 days !
I am open to all suggestions as to travel options.

There's a lot happening in Ireland musically around that time, though I don't know of any ceili band festivals. Lots of ceili band activity, just maybe not in the concentrated form you're looking for. Check out Set Dancing News magazine: www.setdancingnews.net for listings of ceilis and set dance workshop weekends. The listings will give you all the info, including which band is playing. Have a great trip!
