Calling on your all-seeing wisdom - I saw Paramount Style A tenor banjo in Massachuset. Good condition a few scratches on the pot, neck straight, gear tuners fine and tone ring fine. Vellum skin selling for around $800. I thought the action a little high for a beginner like me but I'm sure that can be altered . (I'd ask for string change too since the ones on were so much to my likeing)
If you like the instrument, the price is right and will not go lower. I am a big fan of the Lange designed banjos and the Paramount A is one of the best buys out there as far as sound and (usually) quality go. It is related to the Epiphone Recording A and the rest of the Paramount family differing in materials and price. If the neck is good, I'd buy it and even if the neck is slightly bad or a fret job is needed, you could still get your money back on ebay in a few months.

Dear All,

Sound like a good buy?

Re: Paramount Style A
Is this a private sale or a music store? Does it come with the original case? Is the neck perfectly flat (not twisty)? No heel crack repairs?
I have a Style A that I bought on eBay 2 years ago for 725 USD . so I'd say the price is right.
