Learn the Irish drum from one of the best(Chicago)
Hello music lovers! I am an accomplished Irish bodhran
player located in Chicago and now accepting students.
My credentials are as follows:
6x Midwest Champion
Qualified for World Championships in Ireland
Taught at Milwaukee Irish Fest Summer School
Performed with Liz Carroll
2x Guest Performer with the Chieftains
Guest Performer with Gaelic Storm
Guest Performer with Seven Nations
Regular Performer at Milwaukee Irish Fest, Celtic
Fest Chicago, and Cincinatti Celtic Fest
Lessons are tailored to students' needs and goals. No
experience necessary. Students have fun learning to
play an ancient Irish drum that thrives in the Irish
music scene in Chicago and around the world today. The
exciting rhythms of this drumming style can also be
integrated into virtually any type of music, and
students are free to choose whatever genre they would
like to explore. Performance opportunities will be
offered to students as they advance. My schedule is
flexible, and although lessons are most often taught
out of my home, arrangements can be made for me to
travel to your location. Lessons are conveniently
located on Chicago's north side in the Lincoln Square
area. Plenty of free parking, and easily accessable by
the CTA. Anyone can learn regardless of age, race, or
musical experiece, so take this opportunity to bring
this fun and unique music into your life!
Re: Learn the Irish drum from one of the best(Chicago)
You will want to travel to my location? Wow, I'm impressed... But yer flight tickets would cost you a fortune...
Congratulations on your achievements. Put them down in your profile, so we can admire them on a more long-term basis. Actually, I like this idea and will improve my bio straight away.
Re: Learn the Irish drum from one of the best(Chicago)
Hey you guys, you shouldn't be so harsh, this guy might be the new Michael Flatley of the bodhran. This could be the beginning of a new Riverdance type phenomenon that will sweep the world. The hip-hop bodhran might be the sleeping giant that is about to awaken. Think of the Irish songs that are ripe for a translation to rap. Like, "As I Roved Out" for example. Can't you just see it? The stage goes dark except for luminous celtic graffitti in the background, and a funky bodhran hip-hop rhythm starts up as fake fog spills out onto the stage. The strains of hip-hop uilleann pipes begins to build with a low whistle setting a groove. And then yer man leaps onto the stage as a spot light hits his mark and begins his rap: "Who are you... me pretty fair maid... who are you me hony... UH! who the feck are you... me pretty fair maid... who are you me hony... YEA MON!"

Hi GRY,
Why not put a few soundfiles of your playing up on the web? If you're stuck for resource right now, you can use a portion of my website to do it. E-mail me if you're interested.

Something akin to blowing your own horn, this must be banging your own drum.
