Boys of the Lough on Prarie Home Companion - Polkas
Boys of the Lough on Prarie Home Companion - Polkas
During their last set on Prarie Home Companion this weekend (11/27/04) the Boys of the Lough played 3 polkas. I believe the middle one was the Lakes of Sligo. Does anyone know what the 1st and 3rd were?
Thanks - Ralph

They didn't announce the names of the songs, but you can email your question to the contact at the website www.prairiehome.org. You can also listen to that segment of the program again from that website if jogging your memory would help recognize the songs.

If it was a re-run, then a while ago I heard the same program and the same polka set.
I don't know them all, but I distinctly remember they played one polka that is called West Kerry Polka that is the same as the middle tune on the "West Kerry Set" on Four Men and a Dog's "Maybe Tonight", and the last tune on track 7 of Lunasa's "Redwood".
I've never seen the music written out for it, though.

Thanks for your suggestions. The program was not a re-run Kevin, but I think I heard the program you mentioned some time ago. Wasn't Aly Bain with them then?
