Jam, anyone ? ( Dublin)

Jam, anyone ? ( Dublin)

Hi Guys/Gals,

I'm looking for some musicians to upgrade my one-man band, so I thought I'd try my luck here. Since I moved to the big smoke I find it much harder to meet musicians with the same interests and level, who are not already in a band. Or else they all emigrate to Australia after a while. Must be my after-shave.

I play the guitar rather decently, and I play in tune, but I'm fairly new in trad, so I'm looking for musicians who can play a tune but don't expect to play the Point anytime soon. Anyway if you're good enough to play the Point, we should probably not practice together.

I like the Bothy Band (If I haven't said it 1000 times...), Martin Hayes&Denis Cahill (I wish they'd speed up the stuff a wee bit though) etc... Anything good really -I'm sure I will learn to like Joe Cooley. Eventually :-)

What else do I need to say ? I'm 29, my yoke's a Takamine. No previous conviction.

So if you like to play a few tunes, you live in Dublin, and you're looking for a guitar player (much easier than to try to avoid them...), have your people call my people. We'll do lunch.

Vincent

Re: Jam, anyone ? ( Dublin)

I can recommend the jam from the Clare Jam factory in Doolin. It's on the same lane as Micho Russell's old house & not far from the piper's chair.

Re: Jam, anyone ? ( Dublin)

I saw Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill in Brussels earlier this year, and they were nothing like they are on cd.The concert started in the usual laid back style, but the sets started getting longer, and Martin ended up playing like a man possessed.I took a friend along, a classically trained violinist who was most impressed. As we were leaving he said that what he had just seen was as technically demanding as any classical violin work.I thought that remark was a bit over the top,but it was a wonderful concert.I have heard a live cd of the duo,but it wasn't anything like the concert in Brussels.

It's nice to buy it direct from the makers but you can actually get it cheaper from Fitzgeralds supermarket in Ennistimon or Jordans in Lisdoonvarna.
